A home EV charger, supplied and fitted, starts from about £909 at BOXT. A wall charger is three times faster than a 3-pin plug and safer for daily charging. With solar panels, some chargers can use only your spare solar power.

What to check
- Off-street parking within reach of the charger.
- Whether your fuse and supply need upgrading (the installer checks).
- A charger that works with smart tariffs and, if you have panels, solar charging.
A portable power station is no substitute: it adds only a few miles.

Not electrical advice. We compare products and point you to installers; we are not electricians. A registered installer must design and fit rooftop panels, batteries and car chargers, and tell your network operator.
